The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, called “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love.”

With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu. Tahereh Mafi has created a captivating and original story that combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and satisfying end.

Out of three books from this series, Ignite Me is definitely my favorite. It has amazing character development in it. I was ready to give this book 5 stars, but something (kinda) ruined it.

Why I Like This Book

1) Characters Development. This book has an amazing characters development. They're all like 180 degree different from their personality at Shatter Me.
+Juliette : All I want to say is, girl, you're freaking amazing! Gone is the afraid and loathe herself girl in Shatter Me and Unravel Me. She finally accepted herself, and I really like this new Juliette. She's definitely stronger, smarter, and deadlier than before.
+Warner : I THINK I'VE FOUND A NEW BOOK BF. Okay, since Shatter Me, I already like Warner (a little) and kind of suspected that he's actually different from what he has put on show. Then, on Unravel Me, we got a glimpse of this sweet Warner. I'm very glad to say that we got A LOT of sweet and swoon-worthy Warner in this book. He's easily one of my favorite characters in this book.
+Kenji : KENJI IS FREAKING AMAZING. He's actually not that different from the other books. He's still a funny and charming human being, but Kenji and Juliette friendship here are clearer than the other books in this series. They had that kind of friendship that EVERYBODY want, and it's beautiful.
+Adam : I think you can guess that Adam is my least favorite character in this book. He's so annoying in this book. I didn't hate him, though. I pity him, because he have to live with the person he hated most while taking care of his brother and watching his ex-girlfriend with someone else. That must be hard.

2) The Romance. It is like, my favorite thing from this book. I already ship Juliette and Warner since Unravel Me, and I'm so happy that there's a lot of sweet and swoon-worthy Warnette moments in this book! The chemistry between them is so obvious that you will ship them immediately. Not to mention, there's a lot sexual tension between them.

3) The Writing Style. As always, Mafi's unique and poetry-like writing style manage to captivate me. It make the books more beautiful. I just hope that she used the strikethrough thing, though.

Why I Didn't Like This Book

1) The Plot. Okay, the plot was actually very interesting. It's all about taking down the Reestablishment and killing Anderson. But, there's so many loopholes that you can probably fall to it. I mean, you can't just kill the supreme commander and take his position, right? There's like, 3333 other sectors (if I remember correctly) that probably didn't like that. Not to mention, the actions are only one fourth of this book, and I think that's not enough for a dystopia books.

2) Not Enough World Building. Actually, I already feel that the world building is not enough since Shatter Me, but I didn't write it in case it is explained in the next book. Unfortunately, this is the last book, and the world building is still not enough. I have so many questions about this future world that is unanswered.

Overall, this book has an amazing character development, but not an amazing world building. If you like the other two books, I think you'll like this one as well (especially if you ship Juliette and Warner!)

  1. Okay, so. I actually DNFed Unravel Me when the Warner/Juliette thing started happening because I *hate* sudden 360 romances. I may or may not have chucked the book across the room, haha. But I won't touch up on that because I may end up ranting on your blog which I don't want to do because I love you.

So glad to hear that Juliette at least developed a lot in this book! She wasn't incredible in Shatter Me, and it's great to hear that she is in this one. :)

I LOVE KENJI. He was basically the only saving grace for me in Unravel Me, haha. I just love his humor and charm so much. :)

I agree about the writing too! It was unique, and the strikethroughs gave the book more... personality? Yeah, let's go with that.

Awesome review, Tiffany! Glad you enjoyed this. :)

    1. Ah so sad that you DNFed Unravel Me, but at least you still love Kenji :))
Yes, I didn't like Juliette too in Shatter Me, but I like her new personality here in Ignite Me. She grew up a lot.

      Thanks, Aimee! <33

  2. I LOVE Warner and Juliette! They may be one of my favorite couples. Kenji was a really fun character. He made me laugh! I have to agree on the character development. It was amazing! I loved seeing how much the characters grew, especially Warner and Juliette. They both came a long way.

    Great review. :)

  3. I am mainly interested in reading this series because of Kenji. Do you have any idea how many tweets/messages/comments I've received and read regarding his awesomeness? I've seen some sigh and wish he were the love interest instead :P

  4. Ahhh, I'm glad you enjoyed this book. I though Warner and Adam's character development was kind of rushed and way too sudden so it was kind of unbelievable...? But Juliette's was well-written over the 3 books AND KENJI IS BEST. KENJI MAKES EVERYTHING SPARKLY.

I too felt like the worldbuilding and action was barely there. This book could have been a contemporary where superpowers somehow exist and Warner was the leader of some gang and it wouldn't have made a difference, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of the dystopia.

    1. I think we all agree that Kenji is awesome! I actually don't feel that Warner's development is rushed but yes, I agree with Adam's. It's like Mafi suddenly want to turn him into the bad guy :( That's why I kinda pity him.

The world building definitely could be better. There's so many questions left unanswered. I wish Mafi would write about it more.
