YA Contemporary 101

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish

Since most of the books that I read this year is contemporary, I think it suits if I taught YA contemporary. Here's the list :

Magnolia by Kristi Cook
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Golden by Jessi Kirby
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Most Likely to Succeed by Jennifer Echols
My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

Okay, I cheated. I actually haven't read the last 2 books, but since I've already read some pages of it and like it (not to mention the summary sounds interesting and the cover is gorgeous), I want to include them here.

So, that's my picks. What's yours?

  1. I need to take a class like this - I'm so out of the loop with YA lit. My TTT

  2. I did the same topic! I only mentioned Fangirl, but I've read Anna and the French Kiss and My Life Next Door too. It would just be such a fun class!

    My list

  3. I don't read much YA contemporary, but I have read Fangirl and it definitely deserves a spot here.

Check out my TTT and my Read This? Watch This! Tag.

  4. I really loved Emmy and Oliver and Anna and the French Kiss. I haven't read many YA contemporary books but if they are anything to go by I would definitely like to read more. I will definitely add these suggestions to my TBR list.

    Happy Reading

  5. Magnolia and Fangirl are the only books on this list I've read before. I really want to read both Emmy & Oliver and Anna, and I'll get to them soon, hopefully before the end of the year. I'm also really excited to read Made You Up as I've heard all good things about it. Great list, Tiffany!

  6. Anna, Fangirl and Emmy and Oliver are all amazing. So many of the others are on my TBR - Great list!!

  7. I've only read Fangirl on this list, but seen most of them around and it looks like it would be a good class!

  8. Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! Here's my post: http://ageekwithbooks.blogspot.com/2015/08/sisterhood-of-world-bloggers-award.html

  9. The Distance Between us is one of my favourite contemporaries ever! I really loved Caymen's character and Xander was just plain adorable!:)

  10. Made You Up is one that's on my TBR.

  11. Hi! I love YA contemp. I enjoyed reading Anna and the French Kiss and like Sarah Ockler's books, too. I'm teaching YA Contemp 101 as well :)

    Great list!
