Title : My True Love Gave To Me
Authors :

My True Love Gave To Me is the very first anthology that I read, and I can say that I'm very pleased. It consists of 12 winter-y stories by various authors.

1. Midnights by Rainbow Rowell - 4.5 stars
Rainbow Rowell did it again, guys! Right after I finished this book, I was left wanting more. This story happens in the span of 4 years, and it tells about Mags and Noel's life on New Year's Eve. It's just so adorable.

2. The Lady and The Fox by Kelly Link
I DNFed this one, simply because I couldn't get into it. Might try again later.

3. Angels in the Snow by Matt de la Pena - 3 stars
This actually could be a cute romance stories, but i kinda got the insta-love vibe when I read this book (eventhough it actually happen in a few days, so it's not exactly insta-love). It's basically about a guy who "babysit" his boss' apartment when he accidentally meet the girl next door

4. Polaris is Where You'll Find Me by Jenny Han - 3 stars
Okay, the elves-human concept is interesting and unique. I love the characters and the not-so-unrequited love. My only problem with this story is that it's end too abrupt. It would be much better if it's a novella instead.

5. It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins - 5 stars
You can say that it's my favorite story from this anthology! It's just so adorable, and eventhough the story only happen in a couple of hours, it didn't feel like insta-love. I'm so happy when Stephanie said that North and Marigold will appear again in her next anthology, Summer Days and Summer Nights. Can't wait for it!

6. Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan - DNF
I alos DNFed this one since I couldn't get into it. It's really unfortunate, since it's the only story with a LGBT characters.

7. Krampuslauf by Holly Back - 1 star
I want to like this one since the concept is unique, but I can't. It's really weird, to be honest, and I don't understand like 70% of the story.

8. What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? by Gayle Foreman - 2.5 stars
This story started off good, and I love the diversity in it, but just like Polaris is Where You Find Me, it ends too abrupt. Also, I get an insta-love vibes from this story.

9. Beer Bucket and Baby Jesus by Myra McEntine - 2.5 stars
I have a mixed feelings for this one. In one hand, I love the MC! He's funny and sarcastic, and it's pretty rare to read a contemporary story from a male POV, so it's refreshing. On the other hand, the story kinda confuse me. I couldn't get into it, and so the romance felt plain to me.

10. Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kiersten White - 3.5 stars
I didn't expect to love this one! It's actually more about family than a romance between a guy and a girl. I love the family aspect in this one, and the swoony romance is a bonus.

11. Star of Betlehem by Ally Carter - 4 stars
Another surprise. In general, I love it, and the romance is swoony, but like Polaris is Where You Find Me, it would've been better if it's an actual novel instead of novella. There's some mystery and action here.

12. The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer by Laini Taylor - DNF
I read so many 5 stars review for this one, so I have a high expectations for it. You can imagine my disappointment when I read this one and found out that the writing-style really confuse me. It's beautiful, yes, with so many metaphors and prose and all, but it's confusing for me. I end up DNFed this one.

  1. I really liked Midnights and David Levithan's story is my favorite :D I had high expectations for Laini Taylor's story too but it ended up being my biggest dissapointment :/ It just doesn't seem to fit really well with the rest of the stories...
