"Once upon a time, a girl had a father, a prince, a society of friends. Then they betrayed her, so she destroyed them all"
This book picked off where The Young Elite left us. Adelina and her sister are trying to form an Elite group called The Rose Society. I have to admit, Adelina is not the same as Adelina in book one. She's far more sinister now, and she doesn't even hesitate to kill. In fact, I think the person who kill most in this book is Adelina herself. She's the heroine, yet she's also the villain. Violetta, on the other hand, is a sweet and kind girl--basically her sister's opposite. I must admit, Adelina and Violetta's relationship is unusual. They love and protect each other, but while Violetta truly loves Adelina and want the best for her, Adelina is now consumed by anger and revenge that if it's Violetta that stands in the way, she won't hesitate to kill her. We also have some new characters--Magiano and Sergei--and both are members of The Rose Society. I love Magiano! He's that kind of character who's easygoing and made the book brighter. Sergei is more mysterious, and he's an ex member of The Dagger Society.
Beside those four, we also get to know more about The Dagger Society through Raffaelle's POV. They're now under the protection of Queen of Beldain, Maeve, who's an Elite too. Honestly, I'm not sure whether I love or hate The Dagger Society. I mean, they're awesome, but they aren't exactly flawless either. And of course, Enzo is back (I didn't think it's a spoiler since we all know this will happen). As everyone's guess, he's different now, and let's just say that I think the Adelina/Enzo ship will sink. Also, let's not forget our resident villain, Teren. He's still the queen's puppets, but he played some important parts in this book.
In case you're wondering, the plot in this book is as intense as the first one, though the pace is slower. It didn't bother me much though, and I still enjoyed this book. In conclusion, The Rose Society is thrilling and intense, and even if you didn't like the first book, at least consider this one!
O.. This has been on my TBR list! Sounds good! Thanks for the review!
