Release Date : April 19th, 2016
Publisher : Swoon Reads

It’s all fun and parties until someone falls in love in this modern fairy tale from author Kate Evangelista.
Caleb desperately needs a fake girlfriend. Either he attends a series of parties for his father’s law firm with a pretty girl on his arm, or he gets shipped off to Yale to start a future he’s not ready for and isn’t sure he wants. And sadly, the last unattached girl in his social circle has just made the grievous mistake of falling in love with him. Fortunately, Didi, recently fired waitress and aspiring painter, is open to new experiences. As the summer ticks by in a whirl of lavish parties, there’s only one rule: They must not fall in love!

Basically, No Love Allowed is one of those book that make you feel all giddy. It's light and adorable and has enough fluff to make you swoon.

Let's talk about the first character first. One of our MC here is Diana Alexander--or Didi as they called. She's an aspiring artists, and recently lose her job at the country club because of out other MC. She's actually quite a happy and positive-thinking person. Personally, I could relate to her eventhough we didn't have much in common. Beside Didi, there's also Caleb Parker, aka our rich boy.To be honest, I couldn't find a word to describe him. He's kind, yes, but I didn't like some of his actions. Compared to Didi, I could relate less to him (mostly because our very different lifestyle, though I've fantasized about it. I mean, who haven't?), but this doesn't mean that I dislike him. He's actually quite a decent guy. Also, have I mentioned that this book is told from Didi and Caleb POV? Because it is, and you guys have no idea how much I love dual POVs in contemporary book!

Talking about romance, I definitely ship these two! Their relationship starts with some kinds of friends-with-benefits thingy, and develop to something more. It's so nice to see how Didi and Caleb slowly start to let each other in. Eventhough we all know how it ends, it didn't make less excited.

While I love the characters and the romance, there's some things that bothered me too. Firstly, the mental illness. Didi actually has a mental illness--which won't be revealed until near the end--and while I appreciate the feature of mental illness, I wish it would be explained further. Throughout the book, I know that something is wrong with Didi, and when it's revealed, the book ended. I want to see and know more about this mental illness. Secondly, I kinda think this book ends too fast. There are some things that left unexplained, and since there were book two, I'd like to think that those things purposefully left hanged.

Overall, No Love Allowed is still a great and adorable book. If you're looking for something light and funny, I definitely recommend this one!

  3. Aw this is such a cute book! I like how mental illness is integrated in its plot, but I'm sort of scared over how it might be portrayed, especially with what you said about how it went in the novel. But this is an overall interesting book and I hope to check it real soon! Thanks for putting this in my radar :D
