Can the best thing happen at the worst time?

Her dad went crazy. Her mom left town. She has bills to pay and a little sister to look after. Now is not the time for level-headed seventeen-year-old Lucille to fall in love. But love—messy, inconvenient love—is what she's about to experience when she falls for Digby Jones, her best friend's brother. With blazing longing that builds to a fever pitch, Estelle Laure's soulful debut will keep readers hooked and hoping until the very last page.

**This review may contain some spoilers.

Before starting this review, I'm going to say : it's not you, it's me. This Raging Light is nothing like I'd expected, and this resulted in me not liking the book.

Why This Raging Light Didn't Work for Me :

1. The Writing
Okay, I'm going to be honest here : the writing-style really really confuse me. It used a lot of figure of speech, and by a lot, it's like every single sentence has a figure of speech in it. Some people might find it beautiful, but sadly, not me.

2. Too Many Plots (an too many names)
When I requested this book, I'm expecting a book about how a girl's life turned upside down when her mom left. Well, it is about that and..so much more. I feel like there 100++ plots going on at the same time, and it's confusing. Just a suggestion, but if you plan to write many plots in your books, consider to resolved the plot first before starting another one. That way, reader won't feel confused.

3. The (cheating) Romance
I did not expect this at all. At first, I'm hoping that the romance will made me like this book, but nope. In fact, the romance is the thing that I hate most from this book, because it involves cheating. Like, they actually make-out more than once and sleep together (literally) while Digby still has a girlfriend! Cheating, no matter what your reason, is not a good thing to do. And the worst thing is, they actually end up together like

Not to mention, there's like zero chemistry between them. Maybe it's because the writing-style or maybe not, but one thing for sure, I clearly did not ship these two.

In conclusion, I'm really disappointed with this one. Personally, I won't recommend it, but if you have no problem with those reasons, you can try it.

  1. When there is no chemistry between characters, I pretty much check out. NO NO NO! Sorry this didn't work. I'm glad I passed on it.

  3. Yeah, I don't think this would be for me either unfortunately. :( I can't stand books where there's cheating involved, and overcomplicated plots just give me headaches. :/ Thanks for taking one for the team on this and, as always, fabulous review! ♥
